Framed Shiva & Parvati Chromolithograph Advertising Label - Ca 1880's Origin - Nagaland 5 x 22 cm -This framed pictorial label printed on paper was used to seal bales of cloth destined for sale in India. Originally printed in Britain and shipped to India, these labels were advertisements made for the Indian taste. It dates between 1878 & 1885. This label depicts the emergence of the celestial river ganga from the head of Shiva as he sits with his consort Parvati. It was printed for F W Heilgers & Co (Trading with this name from 1878) in Britain.
