In 1833, the Washington National Monument Society took charge of creating a memorial to George Washington on the National Mall. They raised money through public donations and awarded the design contract to architect Robert Mills. The large certificate we have was given to a man who made a donation of $5 to the effort. Ive not found another certificate like ours, one that has a place to list the name of
