May 9th 1 USD = 3000 Belorussian Rubles
May 10th 1 USD = 4100 Belorussian Rubles
May17th 1 USD = 6100 Belorussian rubles
June-July 1 USD= 9,000 Belorussian Rubles or higher!
This is not Hyper Inflation here it is truly something else. More like Extreme Super Hyper Inflation
The Belorussian ruble was only bailed out by Russia for 1 Billion dollars. At the present moment this has put everyone in Belarus including the Black Market in a lunge for US dollars. I do believe within the next year or two there will be a revolt or an economic revolution in Belarus. Everyone is on tension about the currency, people are getting poorer and poorer by the minute.
Inflation price controls may rise but far after I leave.
I actually have been asked by Belorussians my age how would Americans react if they were put through the same crisis. I was very honest. Either everyone would be voted out. Or you would have a coup or revolution. So in some ways I may very well be giving revolutionary ideas to a few.
The currency in many ways if not backed by ANY foreign currency becomes absolutely useless. Keep in mind the IMF, the World Bank, the European Union, and the USA are limiting and constricting the supply of dollars & Euros into Belarus as much as they can.
This is exactly how the Soviet Union started to collapse financially. When Reagan went to each World Bank, and convinced them to stop dealing in Soviet Rubles. The same process is occurring again in order to force Lashenko out of power by financial means.
Or to move people to remove Lashenko themselves like Milsovich in Yugoslavia
The biggest thing to realize is Lashenko has a way out even though he would be arrested anywhere if he touches a country that has extradition treaties with EU or the USA. He can live anywhere in Russia or Transhistria. The USA does not have extradition treaties with Russia.
To get a real sense of things you have to realize there is guilt by association here.
1 of the current opposition leaders, (wives) that ran for election. Will be going to jail. Why? Because her husband was found guilty of being against the current government.
Also when Artem, my friend who I am staying with registered me. There is a clause in English, that if I am found guilty of a crime, that he will also suffer like consequences. Ontop of it by technicality Belarus does not recognize any other citizenship other then Russian Citizenship, & Belorussian.
