Reading the Saint Petersburg Times it talks about per capita GDP and GNP is tied to successful democracies. The higher the individual wealth of the person. The stronger the democracy the country has.
Yet we say Russia has no democracy. They even admit they have a fragile democracy. For those that know, I have always been one to bash the term democracy. In a democracy (a true one!) Everyone votes on everything. The usa is legally a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. In terms of today wikipedia says the usa is a Federal Constitutional Republic
Besides the fact democracies are prone to Mob rule, the majority wants to knock off the minority. Thus the USA has Rule of law. (For those wondering why I am explaining US govt. There are more foreigners on the email list then US friends, thus I like to enlighten them with the correct ideal.) This is also why as in 1 debate it popped up once. what if the USA, was a muslim country. I answered back it could never be due to the fact, that means the government is taking a side on religion (favoring one over another) Which open’s a pandoras box. You can see issues of this in France, Germany, Latvia, and Estonia. Different specifics for each country.
